Gas arresters are special gas discharge tubes (GDT) used for protection against lightning damage. These are hermetically closed cells in which the gas mixture between two electrodes becomes ionized at high voltage stroke and so enables the moving of electrical current. Gas arrester connected with other electronic elements acts protectively in such manner that it conducts the lighting surge energy into the earth. Construction of the cell is rather simple; no more than four or five pieces are joint into the compact body by pretentious manufacturing methods. There are important vacuum technique, noble gases, cleanness, degassity of materials and hermetic of the used joints. Gas arrester of high quality has to have demand characteristics: defined spark-over voltage, fast extinguish of arc current and good repeatability of properties in industrial production. Important properties are also high insulation resistance and fire safety. Datasheet |
