Current1 LABORATORY AND ITS ROLE BY DEVELOPMENT- RESEARCH ACTIVITIES OF THE COMPANY ISKRA ZAŠČITE

Our company Iskra Zaščite realized years ago, that it is impossible to follow technological trends without continuous and strategically guided development, which is the assurance for further existence of the company. For this reason our company Iskra Zaščite devotes most of its attention to research and development activities, which High Voltage and Vacuum Laboratory act as a part of.

High Voltage Laboratory, whose heart represents Current Strike Crowbar Generator (TUG-200) for simulating strikes of lightening, was established in 2000 in order to perform measurements and tests for our own development and production needs, but later the services were required also by other manufacturing and research-development institutions.

Measurements and testing in laboratories are carried out by professionally trained personnel, who follow international and national standards and directives such as ISO, IEC, EN, SIST, ÖVE, VDE and LVD at their work. The laboratory is equipped with measuring equipment, which enables implementation of the measurements and tests by Current Strikes,

Voltage Surges and Hybrid Impulses such as follows:
- Current Strike 4/10 μs (do 40 kA),
- Current Strike 8/20 μs (do 150 kA),
- Current Strike 10/350 μs (do 50 kA),
- Current Strike 10/1000 μs (do 1 kA),
- Current Strike 10/2000 μs (do 1 kA),
- Voltage Surge 10/700 μs (do 10 kV) and
- Hybrid Impulse 1,2/50 μs - 8/20 μs, 8 kV - 4 kA.

High Voltage Laboratory in 2002 joined Vacuum Laboratory, which also performs researches on the material, pure gases, plasma and special technology of merging. Great advantages of the Laboratory are professionally qualified personnel, which have acquired their knowledge at the Institute for Electronics and Vacuum technique in Ljubljana, Slovenia.

Vacuum laboratory's activities are:
lab1 -    Heat treatment of materials in vacuum, in hydrogen and in different protective atmospheres,
-    Development of vacuum tight feedthroughs (first of all metal-glass type),
-    Construction of vacuum devices and special elements,
-    Leak detection and
-    Soldering in vacuum (10-5 mbar, till 1000° C).
